Poetry Salon for Creatives of Asian descent
Role: Co-facilitator with Ayesha Raees at Asian American Writers’ Workshop

THE CHALLENGE
There is a lack of space and community for Asian/Asian American poets and hybrid writers who are experimenting with more than one genre including poetry.
THE SOLUTION
Poetry Salon for Asian/Asian American creatives is a monthly convening and dedicated space for writers/poets of Asian descent to connect, practice, and build community. The monthly salons are organized at Asian American Writers’ Workshop in NYC.
Using the methodology of a community of practice, the Salon is structured as below:
stretching/breathing exercise + intention building
community building activities (games or collective poetry constructions)
skillshare conversation (each participant share their origin story, skills they can contribute to the community and skills they need help with)
